What is the platform is the art itself?
An intrinsic characteristic of net.art is that its location on the web and its positionality are integral to the artwork itself. As Internet art resides exclusively online, where it is situated and what that implies, has a lot to say about the work.
Therefore, if a piece of net.art you want to curate, already resides within a platform? How do you manage that? ︎︎︎
An archive is a collection of objects that together provide information about a place, a person, an event, or a moment in time. Archives are used all the time, as either digital databases of information or physical collections of files and objects. Whatever the format, archives are usually catalogued, meaning each item in the collection has a letter or number assigned to it which is typically recorded on an online database system. Archives have an important place in society, as the information they hold can help us to learn about the past and inform the future.
What is
Net.Art?

Internet art is a type of ︎︎︎new media art distributed via the Internet.
The origin of the word Net.Art
The origin of Internet art is widely believed to be the result of an email received by the Internet artist Vuk Ćosić containing some garbled code in which the word 'net.art' could be identified. But what really happened was that Pit Schultz curated an exhibition of Internet art called 'net. art' in 1995, featuring artists such as ︎︎︎Vuk Ćosić , ︎︎︎JODI, Heath Bunting and Alexei Shulgin.
Net. Art refers to a group of artists who have worked in the medium of Internet art since 1994. Some of the early adopters and main members of this movement include ︎︎︎Vuk Ćosić, ︎︎︎Jodi.org, ︎︎︎Alexei Shulgin, ︎︎︎Olia Lialina, ︎︎︎Heath Bunting, Daniel García Andújar.
Pit Schultz curated an exhibition entitled Net. Art in Berlin in 1995. This exhibition is considered to be the first Net. art exhibition and is widely considered to be the starting point of Net. art.
